Water-food-energy

A key triangle for sustainable development

The world’s population is increasing at a rate of 160 people a minute, so it is forecast that water and food needs will have increased by around 50% in 2030. On the other hand, energy needs are increasing as a result of global economic progress, especially in the countries of emerging economies in highly populated countries such as China, India and Brazil.

The link between the energy-water-food nexus and sustainable development is increasingly obvious and highlights the importance of better water and food management, and the use of more efficient and less polluting energy.
